Dawn eclipse obscured by monsoon cover

A total solar eclipse cast its shadow over parts of India and China, at daybreak today. However the experience for many was ruined by monsoon clouds that had built up overnight. The eclipse's 'path of totality' began on the coast of Gujarat at 6:30am.

Now Michael Jackson's father alludes to foul play

Even as the family is waiting for the toxicology report, Joe Jackson said that there must be something wrong as Jackson did not wake up taking medicine given by a doctor. Jackson's doctor Dr Conrad Murray is already under scanner.

Looks like its open season on people of Indian origin. Britain's broadcasting watchdog, Ofcom, has said that it has received some 280 protests concerning the display of racial discrimination in a popular reality show - Big Brother.

World Population Day - 'Fight Poverty: Educate Girls'

July 11 is observed as World Population Day. The objective is to raise awareness about global population issues. The event is observed every year through activities that address the different factors impacting the rapid increase in population. The first step taken towards establishing World Population Day was made in 1989 by the governing council of the United Nations Development Programme. It was inspired by public interest in the Five Billion Day that was celebrated on July 11 1987. The theme for World Population Day 2009 is 'Fight Poverty: Educate Girls'.
