Orchid and the Myanmar PM

That the generals heading the Myanmar junta are a hated lot came to the fore once again when democracy activists in Singapore tried to stage a demonstration to prevent the naming of a Singaporean orchid after the Myanmar Prime minister during a visit.

The Myanmar junta, infamous for its draconian censorship laws, has put a leash on the media in covering the devastation wrought by the cyclone, unmindful of the fact that coverage would have fetched it more in terms of aid from the world community..

Myanmar: Now footage of cyclone devastation on VCDs

Given the tight leash that the Myanmar junta has on the media, people knew little of what actually happened after Cyclone Nargis lashed parts of the country. Video compact discs have appeared in the Yangon market depicting the stark tragedy.
