Israel declares ceasefire in Gaza

Israel has enforced a unilateral ceasefire putting on hold its offensive that started on December 27, 2008 as reaction against years of rocket firing from Gaza at southern Israeli towns. The offensive resulted in the death of over 1,100 Palestinians.
