WITH THE only aim to win the match to survive in the FIA World Cup 2010, Australian team took to ground against Serbia who, likely, needed only one point to remain in the contention. Till the half time the match went scoreless but after half time Australia scored twice and Serbia once to make it a 2-1.
Australia defeated Serbia 2-1 with goals from Cahill (69) and Holman (73). It was Pentalic from Serbia who scored for them in 84th minute. The final score for the Australia vs Serbia match was 2-1. This ensures Australia remains in the contention in South Africa.
Cahill converted a perfect pass from right into a goal as he took a header in 69th minute of the match. The ball went into the corner of the net and the first goal was done. The Australians took the lead by 1-0.
Substitute Holman scored from long range as he took a low shot at the goal which went into the net passing Serbian Stojkovic in the 73rd minute. Australian lead went to 2-0.
