AUSTRALIA IS ready for clash with Serbia on Day 13 of World Cup 2010 at Mbomela Stadium in Nelspruit. They have to play the game of their life if they are to book their place in the knock-out stages.
The only possibility of their next round hope is either Group topper Ghana beat Germany or Germany beat Ghana by a huge margin of at least five goals. So the chances are very slick. Compared to Australia, Serbia is in better position to move to knock–out stage. After defeating Germany in previous match they are confident enough to take on Australia. Win over Aussie will give them safe passage to next level.
Well there is a hope for Australian statistically, Serbia do not possess a good record against non-European sides at the World Cup, losing all three of those fixtures and shipping 10 goals in the process. Australia boss Pim Verbeek also faces selection issues as suspended duo Harry Kewell and Craig Moore miss the Socceroos' final group game.
Serbian team is facing Yellow card problems as there main strikers are under the threat. Moore, Australia's no-nonsense centre-back, will be missed in the Socceroos' defense as he incurred a one-game suspension for picking up his second yellow card. Serbian coach Nemanja Vidic is confident after win against Germany, “We can be confident, we must do the right things against Australia. They didn’t play great in the first game like us. Anything can happen in one game, we need to be focused. ”
