ANOTHER SHOCKING day at Wimbledon 2010, after Venus Williams it is Roger Federer who was knocked out by 12th seeded Czech Tomas Berdych in quarterfinals on Wednesday. Berdych impressed crowds with his big serves and forehand and beat six time Wimbledon champion Federer in four sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Winner of 16 record Grand Slams titles failed to reach finals since 2002. Since then he won the title six times and finished runner-up once. Czech master is in great form, he hit 51 winners, compared to 44 for Federer. He broke Federer four times and decisive one coming in the seventh game of the fourth set.
Six foot five inch Czech giant said after match, “It's really tough to show this crowd how I am just feeling right now, it's amazing to play on this stadium to play such a great player as Roger is, and come here and be here as a winner is just really amazing.”
Playing his 25th consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals won 23 straight but has lost two in a row. Soderling defeated Federer at French Open earlier this month. It will first time since Nov 2003 that Federer will drop to No. 3 in ATP ranking next week.
