World Cup Football 2010: USA vs. Algeria, U.S. in next round

001b09d0c36e985c4b9e99fdb0616b3b GOOD NEWS for USA football fans, United States secured their berth for round of 16 in FIFA World Cup 2010. U.S. team beat Algeria at Loftus Versfield Stadium of Pretoria on Wednesday, June 23 by 1-0. In another Group C match, England won against Slovenia by 1-0.
United States' striker Landon Donovan scored for his country in the first minute of stoppage time off a rebound, advancing the United States to the second round at the World Cup with a 1-0 win over Algeria. No. 14-ranked US team is at the top in Group A, whereas English team stands second in the same group.
U.S. Coach Bradley shuffled the line-up and the American team played their most dominant attacking game of the group phase but was denied opportunities time and again by Algeria's thick defense.
Now in round of 16, the U. S. team will play against the second position team of Group D on Saturday June 26 at Rustenburg, from 20:30 pm local time.
In a match between England vs Slovenia, English team defeated Slovenia by 1-0 at Nelson Mandela Stadium of Port Elizabeth to earn second place in Group C and also advance for the next round. England striker Jermain Dafoe scored at 23rd-minute of play to give England its victory. Now England will play against the top team of Group D at Bloemfontein, from 4 pm local time on Sunday June 27.
