In the 33rd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 between two group 'A' teams Pakistan vs Zimbabwe at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, the Zimbabwean captain Elton Chigumbura has won the toss and decided to go for bat first.
Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has made two changes in the playing XI from the last match against New Zealand. Pakistan lost that match by 110 runs. Afridi preferred Wahab Riaz and Asad Shafiq over Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar and Umar Akmal.
Zimbabwe team have made two changes in their playing XI against Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Elton Chigumbura replaced Chris Mpofu with right-arm seamer Shingi Masakadza and Vusi Sibanda with injured Sean Williams.
Pakistan, who won three matches in a row against Kenya, Sri Lanka and Canada in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, need one more victory to secure their berth for the quarterfinals from two matches. They will play their last match against defending World Champion Australia.
Zimbabwe team if wish to go for the next round then they will have to win both matches against Pakistan and Kenya and also they will pray for Pakistan's defeat to Australians. In this situation both Pakistan and Zimbabwe will have six points each, therefore Zimbabweans will need to improve their net run rate (NRR) to qualify for the quarterfinals.
However, the record is in favour of Pakistan by 36-2 out of the 40 matches they have played so far. In the World Cups, Pakistan is leading by 3-0, and in the sub-continent conditions, record is 15-1.
