IN THE third quarter final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori won the toss and decided to bat first against South Africa.
The winner of the third quarter final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will play against the winner of the fourth quarter final, between Sri Lanka and England, in the first semi-final at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on March 29.
South African captain Graeme Smith has replaced three players in the World Cup Cricket 2011 quarter final match against New Zealand from the last match against Bangladesh. AB de Villiers will play as wicket keeper in place of Morne van Wyk.
Fast bowlers Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel have come into the playing XI - replacing Wayne Parnell and Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
New Zealand made couple of changes in the do-or-die match against South Africa. Captain Daniel Vettori is once again back in the playing XI along with the left-arm spinner Luke Woodcock. They replaced James Franklin and Hamish Bennett. In the last match Ross Taylor was the stand-in captain.
In the head-to-head record between these two countries in the Cricket World Cup since 1992, both South Africa and New Zealand have met at every World Cup and the record is in favour of New Zealand by 3-2.
