IndiGo Airlines to order A320 Airbus

India's largest low cost carrier IndiGo has has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for acquiring 180 eco-efficient A320 Airbus aircraft of which 150 will be neo series.It is the largest  firm order for jets in commercial aviation history and makes IndiGo a launching customer for A320 neo Airbus.The airplanes are expected to be delivered between 2016 and 2025.The giant deal is valued at $15.6 billion and will allow Indigo to expand its fleet.


The A320 Family (A318, A319, A320 and A321) is the recognised market leader as the benchmark single-aisle aircraft family.A320 Family has the lowest operating costs of any single aisle aircraft.New A320 neo carrier jet incorporates more efficient engines and large wing  devices called Sharklets for significant fuel savings of up to 15 %, which represents savings of over 400,000 gal of fuel and up to 3,600 tonnes of CO2, reduction in NOx emissions and reduced engine noise.

Over 6,800 Airbus A320 Family aircraft have been ordered and over 4,500 delivered to more than 310 customers and operators worldwide.
