ICC WC 2011: Eng beat Pak in warm-up; India vs Bang today

TEAM INDIA will take on co-host Bangladesh today at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur in the inaugural match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. A day before team India opens ICC World Cup 2011 against Bangladesh, left arm pacer Ashish Nehra was ruled out with a sore back. However, Indian team manager Ranjib Biswal denied reports regarding Ashish Nehra's fitness problems.

The Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium pitch is likely to help spinners. In the warm-up match between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the same venue, the pitch had turn for the spinners. Toss will also play a very important role for both captains because of the dew factor. The team defending a target under floodlights, will face certain difficulties because of a wet outfield. It is most likely that Dhoni will include two specialist spinners in the playing eleven in the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

In the last warm-up match before the start of World Cup England beat Pakistan by 67 runs at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah. After batting first, the English team were all out for 273 runs in 49.4 overs. Kevin Pietersen and Collingwood scored 66 and 65 runs respectively.

In reply, the Pakistan team were all out for 206 runs in 46.1 overs. England's pacer Stuart Broad picked five wickets in the warm-up match. Broad's figures were 8.1-1- 25-5. Earlier, Broad took five wickets against Canada in the first warm-up match of England. Younis Khan was the highest run-getter for Pakistan, adn scored 80 runs.
