Brian Lara favors South Africa to win the cricket World Cup but says it needs to ignore the bad luck which has plagued its five previous campaigns.
The former West Indies captain says South Africa, a semifinalist on three occasions, "is capable of playing consistent cricket as is required in a long tournament like the ICC Cricket World Cup," but he would probably not bet on it because it has a World Cup "bogey."
Lara named Australia, England and India as other teams to watch out for in the 14-team tournament to be hosted jointly by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh from Feb. 19.
Lara was on the sidelines of a cricket clinic at Ferozeshah Kotla ground.
