Railway Budget 2011: What's in the bag

Railway Budget 2011, to be presented on February 25th, may bring the announcement of setting up of a Rail Industrial Park along with the introduction of green toilets, to cater the various needs of the Railways Divisions, including the manufacturing of components for rail operations.

Indian Railway Ministry has proposed for setting up of a green toilet manufacturing unit at Nagpur.Green toilets, such as controlled discharge toilet system and zero discharge toilet system are being tested by the Indian Railways currently, which are based on bio-digester technology. Introduction of green toilets will be a step forward towards commitment of providing a cleaner environment.

Railway Budget may also make way for the expansion of Diesel Loco Works at Varanasi and setting up of a diesel locomotive shed in Mariani, Assam.

Besides, the provision of good quality food outlets at reasonable prices to the passengers – ‘Jan Ahaar’, may also find their place in the Railways Budget.
